Selig Labs is a small senior team by design. The person accountable for the work is the person who does it — which is why there is no bench, no hand-off, and no ticket queue between you and the engineer.
01 — Background
Selig Labs was founded to do the work, not to sell it.
Selig Labs started in Chicago in 2014, after two decades of building software inside other people's companies — healthcare platforms, logistics systems, manufacturing floors. The pattern was always the same: the people who understood the problem were rarely the people writing the code.
So the company was built the other way round. Senior engineers talk to the business directly, own the architecture, and stay on the work until it is in production. There is no bench to staff, no discovery phase that exists to justify the next one, and no hand-off between the person who scoped the system and the person who builds it.
Some of that work is client work. Some of it is our own — we take equity, build the product, and run it. Both sides make the other sharper.
